SANDRA WONG
Sandra Wong began painting full time in 2002, with her first exhibition at Trevor & Trudy Lamb’s Heart of Glass in Greytown, a lovely wee gallery that once occupied The Cabbage Tree Cottage. From there, Sandra went on to participate in many group and solo exhibitions with The Academy of Fine Arts, The Main Artery, Whirinaki Whare Taonga, Aratoi Wairarapa Museum of Art and History, Wai Art, The New Zealand Art Show and Te Hupenui Greytown Gallery of Contemporary and Fine Art Sandra is best known for her narrative paintings, featuring New Zealand trees and birds, inspired by Celtic carvings & medieval tapestries; and occasional forays into contemporary art. She has works in private collections in New Zealand and overseas and more recently, a public collection - her Huia painting, “Last Song,” was gifted to Pukaha Mount Bruce by one of her clients.
