JO LYSAGHT – PRINTMAKER
Jo started printmaking in 2016 and her works are carved mostly from lino and wood. More recently experimenting with drypoint engravings where the work is etched into a polymer plate and inked intaglio method. The process is slow and methodical, with care and attention needed at each stage as nothing can be rushed. More than one colour means multiple printing plates or, when using the reduction method, one block of lino is progressively carved away after each colour is printed until nothing remains. Even the best plans for a print can go awry, but the results are always surprising. Jo loves the flexibility of the medium and the continued learning she gets from trying multiple processes. Jo’s work is mostzly inspired by nature, but she feels there is still so much to explore and is excited by many more years of discovery within the print medium.
