ANNIE HAYWARD
My artistic career started as a child of ten when I told my parents ''I am going to be an artist when I grow up''.
My father was a working artist so my future was set in my gene pool. I've worked as a full time working artist for over 40 years in many capacities. I graduated with a diploma in visual communications from Massey design school, Wellington in the mid Seventies and went onto become a freelance illustrator/artist for many years.
My career as an artist has been central to my being. I'm not static in my journey...my main aim is to respond to my ideas and curiosity. When I follow a passion I find my focus and style can change but inherently it's always an honest desire for me to explore and keep being creative.
I have lived most of my life in Eastbourne that skirts the easter Wellington harbour village. but my husband and I decided to retire to the Wairarapa which in turn as inspired my new love in painting landscapes.
The countryside and rivers here are beautiful and full of inspiration. So currently I am balancing my love of the countryside and abstracted landscapes and my much needed desire to be faithful to my hearts desire which is to enjoy painting abstracted seascapes too.
Over the years I have had numerous solo exhibitions and group exhibitions and I am delighted and grateful to be an artist here and be able to show and sell my artworks in the community of artists in Greytown. Lucky me.
